COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
INDEX SHEET SET, LOOSE-LEAF BINOER
(BUFF, 3 x 5)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Grade B, Class I of Federal Specification UU-I-370.
This description covers buff, alphabetical 3 x 5 inch index sheet sets for general purpose use in looseleaf binders.
Salient characteristics:
The index sheet set paper shall conform to the requirements of JCP - J10 for a basis weight of 32 pounds. Grain direction of the paper shall be parallel to the long dimension of the index sheet. Color of the paper shall be buff. The index sheet shall be 3 x 5 (+ 1/32) inches exclusive of tabs (binding side cited first). Corners of the sheet shall be square or rounded. Along the binding edge, the index sheet shall have three (3) holes 3/16 (+ 1/32) inch in diameter spaced 3/4 (+ 1/16) inch center to center, and the holes shall be 3/16 (+ 1/32) inch from edge of sheet to center of holes. The top and bottom hole shall be equidistant from top and bottom edge of sheet, with a tolerance of + 1/16 inch. Binder holes may be reinforced at the supplier’s option. Each index sheet shall be furnished with a self tab located along the long dimension of the sheet. Tabs shall be 3/8 (+ 1/16) inch high and a minimum 7/8 inch long. Top corners of the tabs shall be rounded. Tabs shall be printed with black letters on both sides starting with “A” tab in the upper position and continuing downward on consecutive sheets tor a total of 25 subdivisions with one “MC” and one “XYZ”. The tabs shall be completely laminated with a clear polyester film such that the material extends onto the index sheet on each side not less than 3/8 inch and extends over each end of the tab edge on the index sheet not less than 3/8 inch. The index sheets shall have clean cut edges and shall be free from wrinkles, folds, tears and other defects which affect serviceability. Tabs shall be free from cracking and peeling.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
