2. Salient characteristics:
2.1 Materials.
Type I shall conform to JCP G80.
Type II shall conform to JCP G70.
Type III shall conform to JCP G40
Type IV shall conform to JCP G10.
Type V shall conform to JCP D10.
Type VI shall conform to JCP G20.
Type VII shall conform to JCP G50.
Type VIII shall conform to JCP G60.
2.1.1 In addition to the above requirements, all types shall
contain recycled content as specified in Section 5.
2.2 Basis weight. The basis weight of the bond and writing paper shall be as
specified (See Ordering Data).
2.3 Size and trim. Shall be as specified (See Ordering Data).
2.4 Grain. Shall be as specified (See Ordering Data)
2.5 Color. All types of bond and writing paper shall be furnished in
white, blue, buff, green, pink, salmon, or yellow, as specified (See Ordering
Data).
2.6 Bleaching. To obtain an acceptable brightness, in accordance with
the performance standards of this document, a chemical bleaching process may be
used. When specified in the ordering data (See Ordering Data), the bleaching
process shall not include the use of chlorine, chlorine dioxide, or other
chlorine compounds. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such
conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided
for under the provisions of the contract.
2.7 Workmanship. All types of paper in accordance with this
specification shall be clean, free born dirt spots, oil spots, shives, foreign
matter, and shall be uniform in color. The sheets shall be free from holes,
tears, cuts, folds, scuff marks, lint, fuzz, or any particles that will fluff
or pile or pile on the blanket under normal press conditions. There shall be no
splices within a sheet and there shall be no partial sheets. There shall be no
defects that affect appearance or serviceability.
3. Quality Assurance Provisions.
3. Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain
substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics
of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the
producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance
practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such
conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided
for under the provisions of the contract.
