COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
LABEL, Paper, Pressure Sensitive Adhesive
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers the requirements for a label suitable for use on a prescription bottle.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a pressure sensitive adhesive-backed label suitable for being affixed to a glass and a plastic prescription bottle.
The label shall be black and made of standard smudge-proof white paper on permanent adhesive constructed of two layers in a roll form. Each label shall be 1-3/4 by 2-3/4 inches (4.44 by 6.98 cm.) in dimensions and uniformly perforated for easy separation from the roll.
The label shall be suitable for receiving and retaining typewritten instructions.
The roll shall be smoothly, evenly and tightly wound with no wrinkles, holes or voids. The edges of the roll shall be clean cut. When unwound, the adhesive shall not separate from the backing.
Workmanship. The label shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing five rolls, each roll containing 1000 labels, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
