COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CARD SET, GUIDE, FILE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of
this commercial item description in preference to Type I and Type
II, form 1, Guide File Card Sets of Federal Specification
UU-C-95 which is canceled.
1. Scope: This Commercial Item Description covers printed and non-printed file guide card sets for use in the organization of files.
2. Classification: This description covers drawer type file guide card sets of the following types and classes:
Type I - Calendered bristol
Type II - Calendered pressboard
Class 1 - Self tab
Class 2 - Metal tab
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Paper: Type I file guide card sets shall be made of calendered bristol with a basis weight of 325.4 g/m2 (200 lbs. 24 X 36-500) - 5%, + unlimited. Type II file guide card sets shall be made of calendered pressboard with a basis weight of 602.1 g/m2 (370 lbs, 24 X 36-500) - 5%, + unlimited, when tested in accordance with TAPPI test method T 410. Type I file guide card sets shall have a thickness range of 0.406 mm, min. to 0.457 mm, max. (0.016 inch, min. to 0.018 inch, max.). Type II file guide card sets shall have a thickness range of 0.508 mm, min to 0.660 mm max (0.020 inches, min to 0.026 inches, max.) when tested in accordance with TAPPI test method T 411.
