COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
NOTEBOOK, STENOGRAPHER’S
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, for all Federal Agencies.
1. Scope. This description covers stenographer’s notebook.
2. Salient characteristics:
2.1Writing paper. The writing paper shall conform to the requirements of JCP D10, basis weight of 60 g/m2 (16 lbs (17 x 22 – 500)). The color of the paper shall be white. The JCP D10 “below the line” requirements are not applicable.
2.2 Notebook board. Notebook board shall conform to the following physical requirements in Table I.

2.3 Color. The color of colors of notebook board shall be at the option of the supplier.
2.4 Cleanliness. Notebook board shall be free from dirt spots, oil spots, foreign matter, and ink smears.
2.5 Wier hinge. The hinge of the notebook shall be metal wire with a diameter not less than 0.635 mm (0.025 inch) and coated so as to be bright finished. The hinge shall have a minimum of 24 coils.
