COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAPER, TRACING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use
of this commercial item description for all Federal Agencies. When this
commercial item description replaces, Federal Specification UU-P-561 which is
cancelled.
1. Scope. This commercial item description covers tracing paper for use in the
tracing of drawings, development of original drawings, and for other purposes
requiring high grade tracing papers.
1.1 Classification.
Type I – White, rag, medium strength, natural tracing paper,
permanent quality
Type II – White, chemical wood, untreated, good translucency, non-permanent
quality
Type III – White or tinted, rag, high translucency, permanent quality
Type IV –White or tinted blue, rag, medium, translucency, permanent quality.
2. Salient Characteristics.
2.1. Material. Tracing paper shall be made from fibrous, cellulosic material
and shall conform to the requirements of Table 1.
2.2. Physical Requirements
2.2.1. Color. Types I and II shall be white. Types III and IV shall be white or
tinted blue. The color shall not change on aging.
2.2.2. Exposure to ultra-violet radiation. Types III and IV shall develop no
change in color or character of sufficient amount to increase the printing time
when used for either the diazo or blueprinting process of reproduction.
2.2.3. Finish. All tracing papers shall be uniform texture with slightly
grained surface.
2.2.4 Curl. Types III and IV shall be flat when removed from the package and
shall develop no curl during printing.
