COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CARD, INDEX
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
SCOPE.
This commercial item description covers cotton or linen and chemical wood index cards, white and colored.
CLASSIFICATION.
The index cards covered by this specification shall be in the following Grades.
Grade A- 100% percent cotton or linen fibers.
Grade B- Not less than 25% cotton or linen fibers; the remainder shall be chemical wood pulp.
Grade C- Chemical wood pulp, white and colored.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
A. Stock: Grade A stock shall conform to the requirements of JCP-K30, 100% Cream-White Index. Basis weight: 226 g/m2 (125 pounds) + 5%, when tested in accordance with TAPPI test method T410. Grain direction shall be parallel to the long dimension of the index card.
Grade B stock shall conform to the requirements of JCP-K20, 25% Index, White and Colored. Basis weight shall be as specified in the contract or ordering document, with a tolerance of + 10%, when tested in accordance with TAPPI test method T410. Grain direction shall be parallel to the long dimension of the index card.
