COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

JACKET, FILING, WALLET

The General Services Administration, Federal Supply, Engineering Division, New York, NY 10278; has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification UU-J-390c which will be canceled.

1. Classification.

Filing jackets covered by this commercial item description shall be one of the following sizes, expansions and styles, as specified (See Section 7).

Size I – 9-1/2” x 11-3/4”

II – 9-1/2’ x 14-3/4”

III – 9-1/2” x 18”

Expansion A – 7/8” – 1 fold

B – 1-3/4” – 2 folds

C – 3-1/2” – 4 folds

Style 1 – Half-Height Gusset

2 – Full-Height Gusset

2. Salient characteristics                                                               

A. Construction. The Style A filing jackets shall be without flaps, have at least half-height gussets, plain, and untabbed edges (See 7.B). The Style B filing jacket shall be essentially, the same and have full gussets (See 7.B). The half-height gusset shall be no higher than 5-1/2 inches, the full height gusset shall be the full height of the front leaf. The leaves of the jackets shall be two-ply with rounded corners. The color of the outer ply shall be red; the color of the inner ply shall be red, salmon, or manila as specified (See 7.C). The plies of the leaves shall be completely and securely bonded together. The front leaf shall be 1/2 inch (+/- 1/8 inch) lower than the top of the back leaf. Inner and outer plies shall be properly aligned and flush.
