2.3.1 Paper Set Performance. The paper sets shall provide at one time not less than eight manifold copies. The intensity and sharpness of the images produced on all manifold copies shall be clear and legible. The carbon paper coating shall not separate or flake off when tested. There shall be no smudge marks on the manifold copies after the paper sets have been subjected to the manifolding performance test.
2.4 Bleaching: To obtain an acceptable brightness, in accordance with the performance standards of this document, a chemical bleaching process may be used. When specified in the ordering data (See Ordering Data), the bleaching process shall not include the use of chlorine, chlorine dioxide, or other chlorine compounds. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
2.5 Workmanship. The end item shall be free of any defects such as paper dust, grit spots, wrinkles, folds, holes, tears, and smudge or any other defects that may appearance or serviceability. The edges of the end item shall not be nicked or uneven and shall be clean cut and lint free. The paper sets shall be clean, uniformly coated, and free from pinholes, uncoated areas, or other defects which might affect the appearance or quality of reproduction.
3. Quality Assurance Provisions. Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government.
Contractor Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
3.1 Visual and Dimensional Characteristics: Sampling for visual characteristics shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. Inspection Level shall be S-3 with an AQL of 2.5 percent defects per hundred units. The sample shall consist of 1 paper set. Sampling for dimensional characteristics shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. Inspection Level shall be S-3 with AQL of 2.5 percent defects per hundred units. The sample shall consist of 1 paper set.
3.2 Testing of manifold paper shall be in accordance with Part 2, Testing Standards and Definitions, of the Government Paper Specification Standards published by the Joint Committee on Printing. (Note: See individual TAPPI’s for specific sampling instructions).
3.2.1 Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in Part 4, Acceptance Criteria, of the Government Paper Specification Standards published by the Joint Committee on Printing.
3.3 Paper Set Performance Test: Sampling shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The Inspection Level shall be S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 percent defective. The sample unit shall consist of one box, and shall be represented by 8 consecutive paper sets selected from it.
