3.3.1 Manifolding performance test. Typewriter or printer adjustment- Eight paper sets shall be assembled together and tested at one time in an electric typewriter or word processor printer with pica type. The typewriter shall be equipped with a ribbon recommended by the manufacturer and a platen having a hardness reading of 89 to 93, as measure with Type A Shore durometer. The type shall be thoroughly cleaned before each test. The typewriter key force or printer shall be adjusted so that the lower case shall barely emboss one sheet of 60g/m2 (16 lb. (17 x 22-500)) 25 percent cotton fiber bond paper.
3.3.1.1 Test procedure- One top sheet of 75g/m2 (20 lb. (17 x 22-500)) 25 percent cotton fiber bond paper and eight paper sets shall be assembled for typing. The typewriter or printer impression indicator setting and be platen setting shall be set, as recommended by the machine manufacturer, for eight copies. The sets shall be inserted in the typewriter or word processor, and the entire keyboard, both upper and lower cases, shall be typed or printed twice, followed by completed sentences to provide coverage of not less than 75 percent of the carbon area. The bond first sheet and paper shall be removed from the machine. The paper sets shall be disassembled by simultaneously separating the eight carbons and manifold papers using the bare hands and grasping the top and bottom overhang areas of the manifold sets.
3.3.1.2 Evaluation- Examine for ease and complete separation of the eight carbon papers from the manifold papers (without tearing of either carbon or manifold copies), carbon paper coating (flaking or smudging) and readability of manifold copies (lightness or incomplete formations of images on the manifold copies).
4. Recycled Content Labeling. The recycled content shall be marked on the product or unit pack.
5. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
