COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAPER, FACSIMILE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial
item description, for all Federal Agencies.
1. Scope: This description covers coated facsimile
papers in roll form.
2. Salient Characteristics.
2.1 Materials. All facsimile paper rolls shall be designed for use in
direct thermal facsimile machines. The facsimile paper shall be made from
bleached chemical wood pulp and the coating shall not contain any toxic or
allergic agent that may be harmful to the user. The image produced shall be
legible for a minimum of three years and black in color.
2.2 Paper Dimension. The length and width of the facsimile paper shall
be as specified. The tolerances for the length and width shall be – 30.48 cm (-
1 foot) and +/- 1/6 mm (+/- 1/16 inch) respectively.
2.3 Cores. Inside core diameter sizes for roll facsimile paper shall be
as specified per contract or order with a tolerance of + 1.27 mm, - 0.00 mm
(+0.05 inch, -0.00mm). The width shall be as specified per contract or order
with a tolerance of + 0.0, - 1.6 mm (+ 0.0 inch, - 0.0625 inch).
2.4 Coating. Facsimile paper shall be coated side in or out as
specified.
2.5 Rolls. Rolls shall have the outer end secured by spot gluing or
pressure adhesive tape to keep the roll from unraveling, yet permit separation,
without the need for cutting the top layers of the roll. The finished facsimile
paper shall be white on both sides and one continuous length. No splices are
permitted. The rolls’ outside diameter shall not interfere with the insertion
and dispensing of the roll.
