2.6 Warning signal. All roll facsimile paper shall have a contrasting colored warning stripe to signal that the end of the roll is near. The stripe shall start 1.5-3.0 m (5-10 feet) from the end of the roll. The stripe shall not impair the legibility of the produced image on the paper.
2.7 Workmanship. Facsimile paper shall be free of any defects that may affect appearance or serviceability. The paper shall be clean, free of lint, paper dust, grit spots, wrinkles, folds, holes, tears, and smudges. The edges of the roll shall be clean cut and not nicked or uneven.
3. Requirements. Facsimile paper shall not malfunction such as, jamming, tearing poor imaging or no imaging and comply with Table 1, below.

3.1 Tests. Optical Density Test. Determine the optical density of unimaged
facsimile paper by randomly selecting and approximately one square foot in area
of facsimile paper. Using a Tobias or Macbeth densitometer and following the
procedure in the densitometer’s manual, take 5 readings from the unimaged areas
of the imaging side of the facsimile paper and averaging the five readings.
3.1.1 The optical density of facsimile paper shall also be determined in
accordance with ASTM F1405 using the following test conditions:
Printhead – Thin film Kyocera KST-216-8MPD1, 622 Ohms
Print Speed 1 inch/sec; 1 cycle = 5.00 msec
Ambient Temperature – 30OC
Printhead Pressure – 8 lbs
Print Platen – 50
Printhead Voltage – 21.0 volts
Densitometer – Tobias or Macbeth
Ton Time (Strobe Time) – Sequenced up to 0.50 msec. Ten individual section
imaged per print sample each with an increasing amount of Ton or energy. The
strobe or Ton time for each of the print sections during the test shall begin
with 0.05 msec, and increase at increments of 0.05 msec.
